It was the winter of 2005, on a local train in Stockholm, when I first saw her. Probably for the first time ever, she was talking on her mobile phone. The new mobile 3G service was just introduced in Sweden and with it came a new possibility: mobile video calling.
She was on the phone using sign language.
It proved again that technology can indeed have a profound impact on our life. A wall just fell for people with hearing impairments, they are now able to communicate with their peers from anywhere in the world.
